Abstrak
As many as 25% of the elderly suffer from degenerative diseases and live depending on others. In Indonesia, elderly people with hypertension aged 55-64 years are 45.9%, elderly people aged 65-74 years are 57.6% and in the elderly group aged 75 years and over the group is 63.8% (Kemenkes RI, 2016). Padang Health Center Tuesday, January 2018, with a population of 728 people consisting of 209 families. Most of the elderly suffer from hypertension. Of the 55 elderly in the Posyandu, most of them suffer from hypertension, approximately 30 people. The problem faced by the Elderly Posyandu participants is that Progressive Muscle Relaxation or PMR exercises have never been carried out. The approach method is in the form of counseling and Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercise or PMR (Progressive Muscle Relaxation) for the elderly. The results of its implementation can increase the application of Progressive Muscle Relaxation or PMR (Progressive Muscle Relaxation) exercises in the elderly. Hypertension can help reduce the blood pressure of the elderly so that the elderly can work independently in meeting their needs and can improve the quality of life of the elderly. In addition, the life of the elderly is not completely dependent on the family in meeting their needs.
