Sorong Regency is still very dependent on other regions to meet the needs of vegetables because vegetable productivity in Sorong Regency is still very low and people's interest in becoming farmers is still very low, which causes the need for local food, especially vegetables. Low knowledge and skills of members of the Osok Women's Group (75% did not graduate from elementary school). The Osok women's group is dominated by indigenous Papuans who do not have sedentary jobs and have low education. There has been no effort developed in the Osok Women's Group and has not been maximized in the organizational arrangement of the group. The solution to the problems faced by Osok women is by conducting socialization and training in making compost planting media. The use of compost planting media was chosen because compost is proven to increase soil fertility naturally, is environmentally friendly, and has lower production costs compared to chemical fertilizers. This activity involves socialization and training to local communities regarding the manufacture and application of compost planting media in lettuce cultivation. Through composting techniques using local organic materials, such as plant residues, and organic waste. The stages of implementing the service are preparation, interviews, socialization of making compost planting media, training in making compost planting media, evaluation and reporting. The results of this activity show that this service activity shows several important results, both from agricultural and socio-economic aspects of the community. There is an increase in the knowledge and skills of the Osok Women's Group by 100%. 80% of organic household waste is converted into compost and there is an increase in household income of 5-10%. This activity has had a positive impact on the indigenous Papuan community in Sorong Regency, especially in optimizing the potential in a sustainable manner and increasing income. This program is expected to continue to grow and provide long-term benefits for the welfare of the local community.
Hendra Sudirman Yoga Andriyan Aldila Mawanti Athirah Luksen Helkia Smur Ramles Rahakratat Apner Saa Giffard R. One of the villages that has the potential to be developed as a tourist destination in Bogor City is Kampung Mandiri, located in Kebon Pedes, Tanah Sareal District, which features a dairy farm in the middle of the city. This village is easily accessible from Bogor and Jakarta, with its main economy coming from livestock and culinary businesses. The community service activities aim to enhance the skills of farmers and brand Kampung Mandiri. The first training conducted was on Developing Dairy-Based Products, and the second was on Branding Strategies for Kampung Mandiri. These trainings were based on prior observations that the community in Kampung Mandiri lacked product variety and understanding of the importance of branding. As a result of the first training, participants learned to create dairy products such as dairy nuggets, milk candies, and milk mochi. In the second training on branding, Kampung Mandiri will use the logo KAMPUSS (Kampung Mandiri Susu Sapi Perah) as its identity and create an Instagram account for branding purposes. The training has proven to enhance the skills of farmers, members of the PKK (Family Welfare Program), and MSMEs in Kampung Mandiri, based on the results of pre-tests and post-tests conducted after the training.
Dina Hariani Wildan Rizky Rahardian Indri Putri Utami Nisa Rahmaniyah Copyright (c) 2024 Dina Hariani, Wildan Rizky Rahardian, Indri Putri Utami, Nisa Rahmaniyah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2024-12-10 2024-12-10 8 4 1651 1658 DENTAL AND ORAL HEALTH SCREENING FOR CHILDREN IN KELURAHAN SIMOKERTO, SURABAYA https://pkm.uika-bogor.ac.id/index.php/ABDIDOS/article/view/2495
Abstract. Oral health issues in children are a significant global public health concern. Factors such as dietary habits, socioeconomic status, and level of knowledge affect the prevalence of dental caries, periodontal diseases, and other oral health conditions. In Indonesia, especially in urban areas like Surabaya, growing attention is paid to children's oral health. This study aimed to assess children's dental and oral health status in Kelurahan Simokerto, Surabaya, and identify associated risk factors. The sample is 38 children aged 3-11 years in Kelurahan Simokerto. Data were gathered through clinical exams. Results showed a high prevalence of dental caries and poor oral hygiene practices, such as infrequent brushing and limited flossing. Socioeconomic factors, including parental education and household income, were linked to the children's oral health status. These findings highlight the need for targeted oral health promotion programs in Kelurahan Simokerto, focusing on improving oral hygiene practices, encouraging regular dental check-ups, and addressing socioeconomic determinants of oral health. The study highlights the need for long-term, community-driven interventions to address dental caries and improve oral health outcomes, as short-term efforts showed no significant changes in DEFT and OHIS frequencies in Kelurahan Simokerto.
Eveline Yulia Darmadi Yessy Andriani Fauziah Salma Ramadhani Nasya Kamila Mutiara Budi Copyright (c) 2024 Eveline Yulia Darmadi, Yessy Andriani Fauziah, Salma Ramadhani, Nasya Kamila Mutiara Budi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2024-12-10 2024-12-10 8 4 1659 1664 EFFORTS TO ADDRESS SMOKING'S IMPACT THROUGH EDUCATION USING SHORT FILMS, SMOKER TESTIMONIALS, AND SIMULATIONS OF ITS EFFECTS ON LUNG HEALTH https://pkm.uika-bogor.ac.id/index.php/ABDIDOS/article/view/2493
Smoking behavior is the act of inhaling smoke from burning tobacco and then exhaling it. One of the key measures that communities can adopt to address household food waste is by transforming perceptions and practices surrounding food waste—viewing it not as waste to be discarded but as an alternative resource. The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the role of Posyandu (integrated health post) cadres as family educators in providing community education. These educators are expected to explain the negative impacts of food waste on the environment and food security while offering practical guidance on sustainable practices, such as mindful shopping, proper food storage, and repurposing food leftovers into valuable products like eco-enzyme solutions. The training commenced with a pre-test to assess participants' baseline knowledge, involving 55 participants, including Posyandu cadres, representatives from public health centers (Puskesmas), sub-district officials, and the program team. The content delivered by the facilitators ranged from the selection of hygienic food ingredients to the practical steps for producing eco-enzymes from food waste. Practical modules were distributed to help participants easily implement the knowledge acquired during the sessions. Post-test results indicated a significant improvement in participants' understanding, coupled with high levels of enthusiasm during the discussion sessions. The seagrass ecosystem has an important role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems, including as a habitat for various marine species and supporting the global carbon cycle. However, seagrass meadows are threatened by uncontrolled human activities, pollution, and climate change. Through descriptive methods and a community service approach, this research succeeded in increasing the knowledge of coastal children, as evidenced by the significant increase in participants' post-test scores after participating in the educational program. The majority of participants experienced an increase in knowledge, with the average score increasing from 5.1 on the pre-test to 7.45 on the post-test. These results show the effectiveness of the program in increasing environmental awareness among coastal children. However, there was variation in the level of knowledge improvement among participants, indicating the need for more adaptive and interactive learning methods. The success of this program emphasizes the importance of environmental education from an early age in forming a generation that cares and plays an active role in ecosystem conservation, especially seagrass beds in the coastal area of Teluk Bakau.
Tri Samnuzulsari Yogi Pranata Aidin Fitrah Bachtiar Copyright (c) 2024 Tri Samnuzulsari, Yogi Pranata, Aidin Fitrah Bachtiar https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2024-12-12 2024-12-12 8 4 1780 1787 SOCIALIZATION OF TRI DHARMA MONITORING INSTRUMENTS HIGHER EDUCATION FOR STUDY PROGRAMS IN THE FKIP ENVIRONMENT OF TANJUNGPURA UNIVERSITY https://pkm.uika-bogor.ac.id/index.php/ABDIDOS/article/view/2496
The Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to increase the understanding of study programs at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Tanjungpura University regarding the implementation and monitoring of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes education, research, and community service.
