Abstract

Today's teachers are spoiled by a variety of interesting internet-based teaching media. Some
of them are: Quipper, Padlet, Edmodo and so on. The ease of accessing information is also a
supporting element in improving the quality of teacher teaching, especially learning English
in schools. Most of languageinstructions are in English, so that students and teachers have
learned English indirectly through these learning applications. This study aims to determine
the role of internet-based media in improving the quality of teaching English teachers in
schools. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The object of this study is the senior
high school teacher who has used several internet-based media in his teaching and learning
process. The results showed that the quality of teaching English teachers increased as seen
from the increasing students' understanding of English. It is not only improving students'
understanding but also their motivation and interest in learning English. This is caused by
several factors, (1) the attractiveness of internet-based learning media because it is
supported by video, audio, images, interesting text and (2) the easinessto access the media
anytime and anywhere. However, obstacles are also faced by teachers such as, (1) limited
internet quota and (2) not all students have smart phones so that the learning process using
internet-based media is not quite optimal.
