Abstract

This research is motivated by a phenomenon that the impact of globalization is happening at this time that Indonesian people forget about religious character education. Student delinquency also sometimes occurs in schools that reflect students not having good character, such as students lacking discipline, there are still those who lie, do not follow the rules or students still cheat on exams. All that requires awareness from the students themselves and guidance from the teacher, so that students can change towards a better and religious character. Based on the background above, the main issues to be discussed here are: 1). What is the strategy of Islamic religious education teachers in improving the religious character of students at SMAN 10 Kota Bogor 2). What are the obstacles in improving the religious character of students at SMAN 10 Kota Bogor 3). What opportunities will be made in the future in improving the religious character of students at SMAN 10 Kota Bogor. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, the research location at SMAN 10 Kota Bogor, the data in this study were obtained through direct observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews. The results of the study are: PAI teacher strategies in improving religious character by habituation, exemplary, advice, punishment and appreciation, collaboration with Rohis, development of the PAI syllabus, and religious programs. the obstacles faced were students who were difficult to regulate, lack of funding, limited facilities and infrastructure, and opportunities to be made, namely making Al-Quran laboratories, holding KMGP forums and improving the quality of existing programs.
